United States of America....May 2006 | View From Iwo Jima Monument, Arlington, DC |
I love visiting America just as much as anywhere else in the world...the people there are so friendly despite the bad press they get worldwide. God Bless America!
I'm standing right next to the famous Iwo Jima Monument adjacent to Arlington Cemetery in Washington DC.
Behind me you can see the Lincoln Memorial followed by the Washington Monument followed by Capitol Hill. To put some perspective on the photograph, the distance between the Lincoln Memorial and Capitol Hill is 2 miles.
Washington was a truly great place to visit, and Arlington Cemetery and the changing of the Guard is a must for all to see. |

| | Japan..... October 2005 I took my lad to Japan for his 18th......2 reasons.....one is my love for this country and its people, and I have some dear friends there whom I wanted Eddie to meet.
The other reason is I wanted my lad to experience something that as a youngster, my parents did for me. My Mum & Dad have never had much but whilst at school they paid for me to go on 2 school trips, one was a week in Annecy, France, 1976, and the second was Moscow, Russia in 1978. I was studying French & Russian and the trips fueled my hunger for knowledge of other cultures, and basically gave me the yearning to travel. My older brother cemented this by packing his job in and living in Greece for 2 years, before he took me on my first and most memorable trip there...Crete 1984. If I wasn't English then a Greek I would be..I feel at home in their company and their Islands......

| | The Czech Republic.... March 2005 This visit to Prague was for a stag party...Robbie's from Chesterfield to be precise. I'd been twice before was due to go again 2 weeks after this trip, which I did for Dom's (from my home area of Bradwell) stag party.
Prague is a beautiful City whether you like to party, or to chill. The buildings are re-known throughout Europe, the people are friendly and the atmosphere is great. The food and beer is cheap, for Brits at least; and if you do like to party, Prague's reputation is fully justified.
I'm going yet again for my mate's lads' 18th birthday in November 06. |

My pal Alistair (afsime1) found this site that'll give you all a little insight into the City of Stoke-Upon-Trent that intertwines with my home, the Borough of Newcastle-Under-Lyme. I will add other references as I come across them!
