Villa Cojimar/Gran Caribe: Where is your room?

Gran Caribe/Villa Cojimar: Value for Money

This hotel seemed to be the 'cheapest' on the island. We walked up to other hotels further up the beach and they seem a bit more upmarket, however, the Villa Cojimar was the cheapest option, by quite a bit when I booked the holiday (package holiday, Thomas Cook).
It is the only hotel on the island that is Cuban owned, and so perhaps this affected the quality? The hotel also seemed smaller than the others, but I believe this meant a more friendly holiday, and more likelihood of recognising other holiday makers and making friends.

Unique Qualities: The food was basic, but we never went hungry, the Cubans are amazing for providing a choice with the limited ingredients they have.
The pool was great, very rarely were there no sun beds left (only when we got up really late).
The setting is stunning (see photos).
The staff are all really friendly and welcoming (and very hardworking).
Our room (no. 53) was also really well located, just 10 steps from the beach, with palm trees all around.
