Shanghai reminds me very much of my hometown, Singapore. It's very cosmopolitan, with all the trappings in life. After all, this is THE original commercial centre in China, and you can really see the difference in the quality of life here, as compared with even Beijing.
This is a great place for shopping, with plenty of outlet shops chock-a-block with branded fashion. It's also a food haven, where you can find almost any sort of cuisine you might fancy, including Chinese cooking from various cuisines and lots of international choices as well.
In my humble opinion, Shanghai will rival, or even overtake, Hong Kong as the shopping haven within the foreseeable future. |

| Pros: | "Great place for a weekend shopping and eating getaway!" | | Cons: | "The city itself has limited appeal, unless you fancy shopping all the time. But you can always take excursions to the beautiful Suzhou and Hangzhou nearby." | | In A Nutshell: | "If you go to China, this is one place you must definitely visit!" |
