Restaurant Name: The Buffet at Bellagio
I took my ex-girlfriend here after a weekend trek to Vegas. Read in a Japanese review how this place was considered one of the best buffets in town. Knowing that the Bellagio stood for class, I had to inspect this place myself. When we hit the place for dinner, the line was quite long, but moving steadily. The price was a little steep and it seemed that the staff was a bit miffed, but a little humor offset their grim tone. After being seated, we finally hit the various stations. Let me say that the scale and grandeur for a buffet was just incredible. They had a good variety of food, more ethnic or exotic items like their pastas, some meats, etc. I passed on the sushi as I used to work in one of the world's finest sushi markets (Tsukiji in Tokyo). But some stuff I sampled where the salmon cheese rolls, lamb, pizza and dessert. According to my guidebook, the pizza is supposed to be pretty famous (well as far as buffets are concerned). And indeed it was excellent. I'm not a big fan of lamb, but this place changed that. The lamb is definitely highly recommended. Also, the crab legs were enormous. To top it off there's an excellent dessert station. The two things that stood out were the pudding (can't remember the name) and the key lime pie. Wow, just thinking about that pie makes me want to return just for that. Our waiter in particular looked a bit overworked. He was complaining that people were ordering things and wasting it. Can't blame him. Another woman waitress was exceptionally friendly with the children and that impressed me. Overall, must eat place to go.
Favorite Dish: Lamb, pizza, and key lime pie.

Le Village Buffet: Second Time was Better

Restaurant Name: Le Village Buffet
Decided to give this place another shot for breakfast since I was in the neighborhood. As usual, the line was long but not as bad as their Sunday one where they have you take a ticket and THEN return to get in line. We just made the breakfast price which meant that we could get the lunch as well. As a breakfast buff, I was underwhelmed the first time. This time in seeing the transition from breakfast to lunch, I began to understand why this place gets high marks. Where to begin? I guess the sausage here gets noticed because they have such a large quantity to choose. Also, there's some seafood quiche and a breakfast type of potpie which I had last time. Lunch was excellent as they started serving up the non-typical food items. The seafood selection was very nice and the choices here are quite unique. On the side they have a tasty selection of cheese with some meats. Grab some with bread to make yourself a little appetizer. And the desserts here are something to see. It's just an eye treat after you're full to poke around and see what items are brought about. I would've loved to have sampled everything, but I guess it's best to hit a gym and then go when you're dead hungry to really get your fill here.
Favorite Dish: Eggs benedict - not something I have very often. Seafood - nothing in particular but the sauces are great. I combined this tomato based seafood dish with the steamed brocolli. Just incredible. Cheese - generous variety and flavorful for the adventurous.

Postrio: Excellent Treat

Restaurant Name: Postrio
Upscale place that serves to enhance the garish yet opulent atmosphere of the Venetian. Read several good reviews and checked this place out. Definitely meets the hype. Not really popular among websites from what I've seen, but it has class and is certainly someplace to impress a date. They provide a nice sampling of fresh bread and the appetizers are flavorful. I had the porkchops which turned out to be one of the best (and filling) meals I had in a while. Rich, unique sauce that alluded to the chef's cullinary excellence.
Favorite Dish: Only had the porkchops, but it's not just some piece of meat they throw in a pan. Care and love had been placed into that to create a magnificence wanting to bring me back and sample another offering.

Flamingo Buffet: Middle of the road

Restaurant Name: Flamingo Buffet
Definitely a middle-of-the-road buffet on the Strip. Good atmosphere in the summer with seats showing the flamino and penguin exhibit. However, quality-wise, this stuff was slightly better than my college dorm food. A disappointing long line confronted us that eventually revealed that the didn't have seafood for that night. A real embarrassment, imo, since the seafood is partly what people go there for. Nothing remarkable but at least I didn't get food poisoning.
Favorite Dish: My friend considered the BBQ chicken to be nice. The lasagna was decent enough for me.

Restaurant Name: California Pizza Kitchen
After getting fat off of pizza hut and other chain pizza places, I decided to try this one since someone mentioned the general quality. For a chain restaurant, this place is v. good. These days you can even pick up a frozen entre at your local super market. But you never can beat a freshly over baked pizza. Some people might go for safe items like a pepperoni pizza. I say avoid that and be adventurous. Try the BBQ pizza at first if you want to experience something out of the old fashioned classics. But really go deep and get something like the Thai pizza because these guys know what they're doing.
Favorite Dish: BBQ Chicken Pizza - light sauce with a sprinkling of sliced red onions. Nothing extravaggent but gives people an idea of what makes this place good.

Todai Restaurant: Buffets and sushi don't mix

Restaurant Name: Todai Restaurant
This is an above-average affair when it comes to Asian food (mostly Chinese and Japanese). The selection is very impressive with a generous offering of salads (the Chinese chicken salad is particularly good). Follow that up with a variety of Chinese and Japanese courses, with a heavy emphasis on seafood. I'm extremely picky when it comes to sushi because it's only good fresh. I've never eaten at a sushi buffet that I've liked. You really need fresh sashimi to experience excellent sushi. Here, the sushi is prepared in quantity but feels and tastes like rubber. But if you like variety this is a decent place to find that. The better items are actually in the dessert and other seafood sections. My favorite, baked sea mussel, is something I pick up in troves. The desserts are tiny so you can sample a wide variety.
Favorite Dish: Fried sea mussel. There's mayonaise cream sauce topped with lightly baked crumbs and mixed with peas. Extremely tasty.

Spice Market Buffet: Expansive but a little disappointing

Restaurant Name: Spice Market Buffet
After reading numerous reviews for this place, i decided to give it a try. Went for a Saturday brunch so they had a good mixture of breakfast and lunchtime specialties. What you get here is a mixture of different foods from around the world, including some Chinese, Indian and middle eastern (i'm guessing) cuisine. I was mostly looking forward to the Indian since I've become slightly acclimated to various curries, tandori chicken, etc. while living in Tokyo (there's some excellent Indian there). Found the selection in this portion a little disappointing. The chinese area was small too. It seems like this place attempts to do a little of everything, which is good if you enjoy variety. However, I was hoping for more focus on the more ethnic areas. Can't say it was bad, but nothing really stood out for this place.
Favorite Dish: tandori chicken although it's only memorable because no other buffet in Vegas that I've been to serves it.

MGM Grand Buffet: Very good experience; went twice even!

Restaurant Name: MGM Grand Buffet
We checked into the MGM Grand and were a bit exhausted and hungry from all the driving on a Friday afternoon. Fortunately for us, this place has one of the, imo, better buffets along the strip. We must've arrived at the buffet around 8:30 or so, but the place wasn't packed at all for dinner on that Friday. They have a generous selection of salads, entrees and mostly American + pasta and some small Mexican dishes. i believe i tried the lamb and crab which were v. good. my friend (who's from japan) absolutely loved the place and was pretty stuffed after the experience. On Sunday we had the champaigne brunch. For some reason, I felt this was a step up in terms of the breakfast buffets I've had in Vegas. One of the most notable things is the made-to-order omellets. Just really fresh. There was a line that day but it moved fast and we didn't have to fight over anything. The whole place has a nice atmosphere and you feel very comfortable in the expansive seating. Also, the french toast, cheese blintz were excellent. I was extremely pleased with the experience and feeling. The taste is really good and while not offering anything particularly special, this place doesn't have anything offending either. They just do what they do well.
Favorite Dish: Made-to-order omellets, french toast and cheese blintz.

Buffet At The Mirage: Went Here Twice This Weekend

Restaurant Name: Buffet At The Mirage
Took my friend here this past weekend after hearing some good reviews. I must say that this place definitely lives up to the hype. They have an excellent selection, the dining area is widespread and there's so much good stuff, you're going to want to return a few more times. We went for dinner and breakfast/lunch. They offer very good pizza even for breakfast with specialties like bacon or ham/sausage. The Chinese was quite delicious as well. Some people have noted that the dessert section is lacking; that's kinda true but they also offer sugar free desserts which is a big plus. Overall, highly recommended.
Favorite Dish: 1) Mexican lasagna (don't know the name); just really tasty 2) Pizza - excellent, wood burned pizza that you can see them bake. The mushroom pizza is v. good. 3) Corned beef hash - first place i've been to where they really put effort into making this fresh. They dice the potatoes and mix with lightly grilled onions and large chunks of corned beef. 4) this small pudding I can't think of. but definitely the best dessert hands down at this place.

Restaurant Name: The Big Kitchen Buffet
My friend was going to see "We Will Rock You" at Paris and the Rio was too crowded. With the time remaining, I decided to try Bally's since I heard it was quite nice. The interior is nice, not overly spacious like MGM or Mirage, but it wasn't crowded either. The theme literally is a large kitchen (looks more like a cafeteria). Not really the sparse, action styled stations of other buffets in Vegas. However, they had a decent selection of food, not too much exotic stuff. The BBQ ribs were nice and the dessert was decent. But I already had Mirage and Paris the previous time, so this was a little bit of a letdown. However, I got a 10% discount with my Connection Card so that was a nice bonus.
Favorite Dish: BBQ ribs. Very tasty, not just cooked meat based with BBQ sauce
