To escape from DC Metro area.... Since I grew up in this town I will definitely retire here; unless i am living on a boat in the carib (crossing my fingers).
This is about my hometown: Annapolis is absolutely gorgeous. Sitting by the river, enjoying crabs or a cold beer, people watching, etc are amazing. Since i grew up here, I have some awesome recommendations:
Maybe if i like you enough; I will divulge some really good secrets about Annapolis...hmmmmmm...
Anyhoo, back to the nitty gritty. Walking through Annapolis takes you back in time to the 1700's.
Up off of Main St you will find the Maryland Inn with the Treaty of Paris restaurant attached. This is where the Treaty of Paris of signed. You will also find Frederick Douglas's house in this vicinity. You can find local guides through the local visitors centers that will gladly take you on a walking tour in traditional dress.
I personally love to just walk around the city and soak in the sun. Relaxing by the water, watching the ego's float in.
Every year there are several boat shows as well as the Light Show for the holidays. Annapolis also hosts its own First Night; this events hosts many entertainment acts and food. There is also the Annapolis Garden Theatre; all outside and tucked away in the corner.
Annapolis is truly a special gem. |
