Castle and old plates

by mariev - last update: Aug 5, 2007

The village seen from the castle's gardens
Wirth its 1100 inhabitants, Ancy le Franc, built along the Armançon and crossed by the canal de Bourgogne could be like any big village in Burgundy.

Except for its historical sites :
The main (and best known) one is the renaissance castle but there is also a ceramics' museum (in the 18th century's factory house), a restored 19th century washouse, a church with parts from the 12th century and even some prehistorical remnants between Cusy and Ancy).

There is also a museum for cars ard horse carriages in the castles' commons.

Would be a nice combination visit with Chablis. No wine tips?

Curieusement, j'ai toujours entendu parler d'Ancy-le-Franc dans la famille mais sans trop savoir pourquoi et je n'y ai jamais été. Ça semble un endroit interessant à visiter.

Too bad Ancy-le-Franc doesn't have a railway station or a bus service, because otherwise it looks like an interesting destination: renaissance castle, ceramics museum and even a washhouse tour.
