Shouldn't this place be IN Paris ?

by mariev - last update: Jan 27, 2008

Checking : are they speaking "tongue in the cheek"

My favourite gargoyle - Sainte Chapelle
The Pont Neuf and the Cite
Guess my surprise when i saw that for VT, the Ile de la Cite, the historical administrative heart of Paris has a different location than the rest of the city.

Anyway, the island is so rich and offers so much to see, than i have decided to take this opportunity to build a separate page for it.

Judge by yourself, on the Ile de la Cite are :
- Notre Dame
- Sainte Chapelle
- Conciergerie
- Hotel Dieu (with its Hospitel)
- Palais de Justice
- Quai des Orfevres
- Flowers and birds market
.....
and - not to forget - the Pont Neuf
seen from the west : ile de la cite and notre dame

mariev writes: the clock was restayred in 1852 and is still working fine. Did you see the mechanisme inside the tower? Is it still (partially) original?

Could they pick a darker corner for Jeanne d'Arc ? I have never seen a clear picture of that statue. It facinates me. Barry in Louisiana (disaster area)
