In Petra, as it is such a big place, many people opt to ride a donkey or camel around, or just up to the monestary. We didn't, we're young and our legs work just fine.
This is not so much a 'warning or danger' per se, but just a heads up, the way they treat the animals here is despicable. They kick them, hit them with sticks, I even saw one kid throwing rocks at a donkey, and not small rocks either.
I am not some 'save the animals' hippy dude, but the way they treated the animals here was just disgusting. Don't support this, don't ride the donkey.
