Arrowtown

Arrowtown is a quaint historic gold-mining town situated in the Central Otago region of South Island, New Zealand.

Arrowtown first caught my eyes on a travel guide and I have to include this scenic town into my itinerary. We have another mission which was to search for one of the best venison pie sold at a local bakery.

There is a lookout point on your way from Wanaka/Cardrona to Arrowtown along Highway 6 around Lake Hayes.

Arrowtown is a very small quaint town and takes only a few hours for you to walk around. It is worth a day trip and it takes about an hour from the nearby towns.

The travelling times are:
Arrowtown - Queenstown 25mins
Arrowtown - Cromwell 40mins
Arrowtown - Wanaka (via Cardrona) 50mins
Arrowtown - Wanaka (via Cromwell) 1hr10mins.

The Lakes District Museum

The Lakes District Museum building was built in 1875.

Today it has been the focal point of Arrowtown for every visitor. This maybe the most famous building in Arrowtown.

This is where you may get information and make bookings of the Arrowtown accommodation and attractions.

The Chinese Settlement

The Chinese Settlement was built by the Chinese miners from 1868.
There is a Ah Lum's Store and outhouse, which operated till 1972.

This bring back good memories of my visit to arrowtown. I think arrowtown and surroundings are very cosy and idyllic places :)
