Rustic Charm of Kampung Ubin Pulau Ubin is in essence, the last 'kampung' (village) in Singapore.
A stroll through Ubin takes you back to Singapore in the 1960's with the simpler pleasures of life.
A bicycle ride around the island would be fun and you may see much more things.
You can choose from eating a seafood dinner by the beach, free guided tours on last Sunday of the month, cycling or walking around the island.
Ubin is also full of interesting wildlife and plants.
The best way to discover Ubin is by joining one of the many free guided trips conducted by volunteers.
Take the bum boat ($2 per trip) from Changi Jetty.
Ubin Jetty is your first stop with a good view of Ubin Town, Chek Jawa to the east. Stop by the Infomation Kiosk to get a free pamphlet of Ubin and advice from the friendly NParks officers on how to spend your day on Ubin. |

I suspect more S'poreans have driven a car than a bicylcle, isn't it ;-)) | VeronicaG Tue Feb 21, 2006 14:18 UTC Palau Ubin looks like a peaceful town to explore on a bike. The boar is something to avoid, though...hee,hee |
