Thang Long Water Puppet show was excellent. Even though you may not understand any Vietnamese language, you will still be able to see those puppets in action. There are 17 series of scenes telling some stories about Vietnamese life represented by carved and painted wooden puppets held on sticks by people standing in a pool of water hidden behind the screen. Purchase the 1st Class for 40,000 VND and you get to sit at the front rows seats and take lots of pictures and you will be given free CD with songs from the performances. The 2nd Class ticket cost 20,000 VND. The show time are 1715, 1630 and 2000.

Temple of Literature or Van Mieu is the oldest university in Vietnam and in the world. It has been recently restored. The original purpose was the worship of the sages and saints of Confusianism but was turned into a college 6 years later. The temple contains 5 courtyards connected to each other by portals. The main gate, Khue Van Ca (pavillion of Literature), Dai Thanh Mon (Gate of Great Synthesis), Thien Quang Tinh (the Well of Heaven's Clarity), 82 tortise carrying stone steles. It was belived that if you rub the head of all the 82 tortise steles, you will be blessed. Altars worshiping Confucius can be seen and there are sincere young worshippers that i have seen. Entrance fees 5,000 VND Broucher 3,000 VND

The Mausoleum is where Uncle Ho's embalmed body lies inside a glass case. Each year in early autumn, his body will be flown to Moscow for maintenance. It opens from 0800 to 1100 from tue to thu and over the weekends. The place seems so peaceful and quiet, I guess they wanted Unlce Ho to RIP. We heard that the house of Uncle Ho has been dismolished. We were fortunate to witness the changing of guards ceremony. We saw the guards just marching by.
