The best way to describe my passion for this continent - my home continent are the following words by Beryl Markham out of her 1942 book West with the Night:

"Africa is mystic; it is wild; it is a sweltering inferno; it is a photographer's paradise, a hunter's Valhalla, and escapist's Utopia. It is what you will, and it withstands all interpretations, it is the last vestige of a dead world, or the cradle of a shiny new one. To a lot of people, as to myself, it is just 'home'. It is all these things but one thing - it is never dull."

Malaria scares me the most...not too keen on travel to Maputo. done it, I was swatting all the time, just in case!!

Mike, this is a fantastic overview of Africa. Your tips give helpful information about the countries and especially your "Warnings and Danger" tips are probably very useful for all travellers who want to explore Africa. Well done.
