Side is a pretty town situated on the Turkish Riviera Coast. In ancient Roman times the town of Side was fortified by massive walls. The Roman influence in this part of the world still can be seen today with an amphitheatre and various temples in the town and surrounding area. Side's vast sandy beaches gently drop into the warm, clear sea. To the west is the peninsula and the beach stretches for about 10 km to the east where the beaches are less busy and stretch all the way to Alanya. Water sports are very popular here during high season including parasailing and wind surfing. There's no shortage of places to shop, eat and drink. Colourful shops friendly bars and wide choices of restaurants are located in the colonnaded main streets and narrow alleyways of the resort centre. Many restaurants line the small harbour of Side, and culinary delights from the Turkish cuisine can be found almost everywhere. |
