"Sani Pass - The Adventure Pass" Sani Pass by MikeAtSea

Sani Pass Travel Guide: 13 reviews and 34 photos

Sani Pass is the only road link between KwaZulu-Natal and the mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. A 4x4 adventure into a different world - the land of the People of the Blanket - the proud Basotho Nation. Starting at 1540m above sea level in Himeville you will follow the deep valley incised by the Mkhomazana River to breast the summit at 2873m - with almost 1000m climbed in the last 8km of your trip in our 4x4 vehicles.
It is an amazing drive - and not for the faint hearted - allowing magnificent vistas whilst one climbs up this rugged and steep road. The road is being "maintained" by the Lesotho government beween the South African and the Lesotho border post - yet during most of my visits I have never seen anyone do something on the road.
Plans are to tar the road all the way to the top of the pass - so go now - it is an amazing adventure!
