The town of Parintins is completely isolated from the rest of the State of Amazonas. The only way to this Amazon settlement of 50.000 inhabitants is by boat. It is more or less the half way point between Manaus and Santarem and lives heavily on the passing passengers that are traveling up and down the Amazon River. A few old colonial buildings, the market and other attractions can be found here, but I would not spend more then a few hours here - as I did passing by on my way to Manaus. |
