Elephants: ELEPHANT CAMP
  • Tip Rating:
  • Phuket Elephants
  • Ever been kissed by an elephant?

  • The camp has been rated best on the island and received both the British Airways Tourism for Tomorrow award and the Thailand Tourism award by the Thai Tourism Authority. To reach the camp, one uses jeeps. The visit of the camp starts with a short elephant show, followed by a leisurely walk to the elephant riding area. The highlight of the visit is to climb onto the back of an elephant and to enjoy a 30-minute fun ride.

James Bond island: Phang Nga Bay - James Bond Island
  • Tip Rating:
  • This spectacular region is about 90 minutes drive from Phuket on the Thai mainland. Boats can be found at a jetty of the Phang Nga Bay Hotel, board a motorboat and begin an unforgettable trip through the surrealist landscape of limestone stacks and green-clad outcrops. The rock’s dramatic colouring of ochre and amber hues contrasts vividly with the startling blue of the ocean. The unparalleled scenery of Phang Nga Bay presents a magical attraction for Phuket visitors and is well worth the trip. While exploring this wondrous region, the following attractions are of special interest:
    KAO PING GUN ISLAND
Make sure to cruise past a distinct-looking rocky islet, popularly known as James Bond Island, where the filming of the final scenes of The Man with the Golden Gun took place.
    KOH PANYI
A stop at this stilt village allows for a look at the villagers’ activities. From a floating jetty, wooden stairs lead up to the small community. The immediate area is full of stands offering souvenirs and handicraft items. Past this veritable shopping mecca, are some 400 houses, including a school for the village children.

    Temples: WAT CHALONG MONASTERY
  • Tip Rating:
  • Located 3.5 miles south of Phuket Town, this impressive temple is Phuket’s largest and most sacred. It is best known for its gold-leafencrusted statues of three former abbots. One of them, Luang Por Cham, was especially respected for his medical skills and magical powers, which he successfully used when Phuket was attacked by the Chinese at the turn of the 20th century.

Diving fishing snorkeling: Diving - King Cruiser Wreck
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • The King Cruiser sank in 1997 after missing its course and hitting a reef half way between Phi Phi and Phuket. The wreck lays on 32 meters of sand and has changed structure quiet a bit over the last years, making wreck penetration almost impossible. Many reef fish are at home on the wreck site. Visibility varies and it is not really a pleasent dive site during the low season or low visibility. Dive trips are organized from both Phuket or Phi Phi Island.

Directions: Various dive operators offer trips to the King Cruiser. Have a look around Patong Beach!
