    • The temple has been build in 5 levels. The believe was the higher one would ascent the purer one would become. Reaching the top floor one would be in heaven.

    • Level two brings one a little closer to purity. The level offers a number of magnificent carvings telling the story of Buddha. Sadly however Dutch archeologists tried to clean the carvings by using chemicals now a century later the carvings show changes in colour as a result of this.

    • Level three and the purity level is reached more then half! More marvelous carvings about the early stages of Buddhism and Buddha can be enjoyed. The path ways become a little narrower and offer an eerie feeling of what may have transpired here some 1500 years ago.

    • On level four one can see some magnificent Buddha statues against the backdrop of the valley surrounding the temple. More carvings can be seen that were skillfully created.
    Also make sure you look out for the drainage system. Since the temple was built in a high rainfall area a stunning drainage system was designed to ensure the temple does not flood.

    • The fifth level is the highest level and in old believes one reached heaven status here. No more carvings are to be found since it was the purest of all levels. A number of stupas are to be found which include Buddha’s are enclosed. The view from up here is quiet magnificent and one can imagine the feeling worshippers must have felt when they arrived on this the purest level.

     love to be there again and again, don't you think so? but mike, kindly inform you ... the tsunami in aceh region was happened in dec 2004, so your christmas in borobudur should be 2004, not 2005. because now is 2005 and not yet dec :)
