"A Port in a Storm" Fairfield Bay by hquittner

Since we had exchangeable Time-Share weeks we decided on Fairfield Bay. At the end of the summer season (1st wk in September) there were spaces available. Moreover we knew the area and even had my wife's sister living closeby. We knew the type of accomodations were more than adequate and we spent our time watching the horror of the destruction of our city (N.Orleans) unfold on the TV. Fairfield Bay is a locality primarily concentrated around a retirement and vacation home real estate development, much of which has been acquired by Cendent Corp. who has built an extensive Time-Share condominium complex. A shopping center was also created with desultoryoccupancy, but a few independent enterprises (including a super-market) have become established in the vicinity. The senior citizens in the area have an organized group. The Time-Share is prospering. We spent a month of our exile in different units (a new one each week). A description is given of them. Fairfield Bay is accessible to the famous tourist sites of the area if you have a car(which you need to get to Fairfield Bay in the first place).
