"A Region Off Our Beaten Paths" Rhône-Alpes by hquittner

We entered the Region for the first time specifically as part of a traversal of Burgundy. We had seen several Romanesque churches and wanted to see something different. We chose Brou, a SE suburb of Bourg-en-Bresse, a pleasant contrast to such as Tournus and Cluny (seen the same day). We had lunch at a restaurant across from the church specializing in chicken breast in a cream sauce that we ate while watching the opening of a month-long Ain folk celebration with folk instruments and dancing being performed in front of the church.

A decade later we were part of an Elderhostel group that spent a week in Lyons including a day in the Beaujolais country sampling their wines.
