Why Here?

We came to Gramat to use it as a base for our explorations of the surrounding area of the limestone plateau (causse de Gramat) south of the Dordogne river in Quercy. We visited a number of towns including Rocamadour and also the Gouffre de Padirac which erodes the limestone as a large defect and a series of caverns. If we had been accompanied by children, we would have stayed longer and see the Safari type animal preserve, the preserve for Barbary apes and the police-dog training facility. It is close enough to the Dordogne to consider a day canoeing or using a kayak.
