Getting TO/AROUND: The Batobus is a different way to get around Paris, but it has certain limitations. It is not recommended to VTers who are not familiar with Paris and the sights along the Seine. It also requires carefull planning to fit itinto your sightseeing adventures. There are a few trip segments where it is faster (especially if your land destinations are handily nearby). It is relaxing and in the salubrious fresh air (when the weather is fair). It is more expensive than other public transport. (We are placing a more detailed Tip under Things To Do Miscellaneous, of this date, which will become buried with time.). (On our Paris pages we will have travelogs of a Batobus trip).

Métro: Use 1 metro ticket for the funicular to Montmartre

Getting TO/AROUND: The funicular railway runs from the SW edge of Square Willette to the crown of Montmatre just below the last stairs up to Sacre Coeur. If you can not manage those steps (see Montmartre Tips), you can at least amble off to Pl. Tertre and Eglise St-Pierre. If you have the ability, the downhill walk is rewarding. As well as a relief for seniors and others, this is a fun ride for children (as if the Metro was not enough). The metro stops for the funicular are: 1) Anvers (Line2) walk N 2 blocks on r. de Steinkerque to Square Willette , then left to SW edge of square (there should be a map in the metro station), 2) Abbesses (Line 12) (again see station map). This station has a fine Guimard deco cover.

Well, even in Belgium you can find horsemeat in every butcher, so why not in Paris? Horsemeat is common in lots of European countries. It's just a cultural difference. By the way: I don't like horsemeat at all :-)

I much appreciated your tips on Le Louvre and I'm pleased to see that others liked these forgotten sections of the museum.
