The Location of the Chateau d'Usse | The Approach to the Chateau and Its Grounds |
The chateau sits on the north edge of the Forest of Chinon and south of the D7 (14 km east of Chinon, 7km west of Azay and 34 km west of Tours). The Indre river is just north and the Loire less than 1 km further north. The conjoined towns of Usse and Rigny are also just east. During the 16C the north side of the rectangular chateau was destroyed by the owners opening up a parterre and vista toward the Indre and Loire (possibly designed by Le Notre). |
