Rueil-Malmaison is a bedroom suburb of Paris, but in its area are parks with the Chateaux of Malmaison and Bois-Preau devoted to memories of Napoleon and Josephine Bonaparte. The grounds and interios of Malmaison are delightful. The chateau was purchased by a private individual M. Osiris in 1896, who restored it and housed a large collection of items relating to Napoleon on the premises before donating the whole thing to the state Todya the chateau is part of an entity called the "Musees Nationaux Napoleoniens" which includes several other venues like Bois-Preau nearby. The chateau has two floors with eight rooms or so on each floor filled with period (much belonging to N. or Josephine) furniture and accessories as well as paintings (e.g.by David and Gros) and sculpture. N's stuff is mainly on the ground floor and hers on the floor above.
