"See the Suisse Normand from Here" Thury-Harcourt by hquittner

A Base of Operations

We chose to stay at Thury-Harcourt as a base from which to explore Caen (17.5 km north) and Bayeux. We were trying to find a small rural setting, not a city and not a beach town.
We also had an extra day to look at the terrain of the "Suisse Normand" to the South. As a dividend we got to sample the cuisine, the butter, the cheese, the Calvados and see the cows. The area and the bocage putatively extends through this area down to Alencon. The inn at which we stayed had an excellent cuisine.
