If São Luís' old town is beautiful during the day, it is amazing at night. It doesn't matter where you go as long as you stay in the historic center. Have a pizza, have a caipirinha, dance some reggae, let the night flow....

If I could remember where exactly it's located, I'd save it as a tip. Anyway, the next morning, after a night of reggae and caipi, check out the French café. It's in the historic center, too, so someone sure can tell you the way. Good coffee and croissants, a quiet place and a nice view.
