Aviano Travel Guide: 42 reviews and 24 photos

Buonasera!

Aviano is a beautiful little town just an hour north of Venice. We are here because of the Air Force, as with the majority of the other people living here. The Italians mostly support us, but a few who appose war will always seem our enemy. For more information and pictures view my tips section.

Note: Grotto Gigante is an hour and a half away from Aviano, near Trieste.

Hello. My niece is at Aviano Airforce base and my daughter will be flying up in Aug to stay with her for a visit. Any tips on flying to Venice? If my niece cant get the time off to get her , how would you suggest she get from Venice to Base?

Hi Cindy, My son and daughter-in-law, (both in the AF) will be stationed in Aviano come Feb. I'm looking forward to visiting them. I've been trying to see where I would fly into or arrive by train. Any suggestion? Thanks for your time. Brenda

Hi Cindy, enjoyed the Aviano photos. These 3 years will fly by so fast! The memories last a lifetime though. I was stationed at Aviano from '76-'79 and have wanted to make a return visit ever since. Nice place. Please post more photos when you can. Thanks

I spent 3 years at Aviano (86-89) and loved every minute of it. Truly a great place to live. (Actually lived in Roverado in Piano) Planning to return next fall for my first visit in 20 years! My wife and daughter are nearly as excited as I am!

The Trenitalia card for young people costs 40 euro and entitles for a discount of 10% (25% on international trains). Good tip on the Grotta Gigante, which is actually close to Trieste.
