  • The church of S. Peter, situate on one small recess on the northern side of the Graben, adorned from the baroque facade of the Pfarrhaus, attributed to G. Montani (1697-98). This church is one of the most meant examples of religious baroque architecture of lnnere Stadt, it is of ancient origin - it is said founded from Carl Magno in the 792 - but was rifared completely in baroque shapes in 1703-15 on design of Gabriel Montani and J.L. von Hildebrand. To these the nice concave facade, tightened between two bell towers, and the
    majestic cupola that surpasses it; the protiro to canopy was designed by T. Altomonte (1753); on the back of the church there are statues of S. Peter and the archangel Michael work of L. Mattielli (1730).

  • The ancient "road of the coal" is today an important trades street where center some between more notices "Wien names".   • The circular public square is dominated from the imposing facade of the Hofburg, than of it it occupies all the south-western feature. Contrapposte is, to right, the facade of the Michaelerkirche and, to the left of Kohlmarkt, the Loos Haus, construction erected in the 191O on plan of Adolf Loos, father of the Neue Sachlichkeit and that to that time true storm of critics raised one. Also Francisco Giuseppe express the own indignation for the lack of decorative frames to the windows - here the nickname of Augenbrauenloses Haus, "house without eyebrows" and the use of the marble onion in wraps inferior of the building, destined to emphasize of the function trades them. Restored around 1990, bank is today center of one; great part of the furnishing of the downstairs has been rifared based on photo of the age.   • Michaelerkirche (1219) was erected in tardoromanich shapes and became gothic in the 14th - 15th century; the neo classical facade made by E. Koch (1792) are preceded from a door on columns of T. Beduzzi, crowned from a group with S. Micheal by L. Mattielli (1725), and accompanied from a high poligonal bell tower. The three inner navate on pillars conserve the ancient gothic structure, with high times to pillars in that one centers them; the chorus and the tribune of the organ, with great extension of white and gold, were transform in baroque shapes in the 17th century. Restorations of years seventy have brought back to the light paintinf of XIV century in the arch of the chorus, the below zone to the tribune of the organ and in against facade; little beyond, to the left wall, other restorations (1988) have made to discover parts of the ancient late Romanic door with a reliefin sandstone in the eardrum. In the pllars skillful, on the arch of the absidal nail head, great burlap of the Fall of rebellious angels (1751) of M. Unterberger; in the chorus tombs of the members of the Trautson family: to right, those of prince Leopold Donat, work of Fischer von Erlach the Young with statues of F.M. Brokoff. Greater statue altar, operates of of Avrange (1781), with iconaItalian-bizantina of the Vergine Ausiliatrice (sec. XVI), coming from the Greek Clay island, straight from angelic figures. In the lower surface of the arc of access to the left absidal nail head, funeral tomb of the poet Peter Metastasio(1782). Under the church it is the Michaelergruft, cript of S.Michael, immense underground atmosphere complex, realized to leave from the sec. XVI and used until 1783 for the interment of the members of the Hasburg aristocracy: numerous ancienti sarcophagous, between which some in painted wood and, in the Gruft der Spanischen Bruderschaft, that one of Metastasio.

  • It is one of the most harmonious city public squares, all sluice from buildings of XVII century. On the bottom there is the Nationalbibliothek; on the right Redoutentrakt of the Hofburg that takes name from the Redoutensaal, still today knows used it for the masked dances, but also for conferences. On the left Augustinertrakt, wing of the convent of Agostinians (1773); to the center of the public square there is a statue of Giuseppe II work of F.A.Zauner (1807). On the opposite side there is the Palais Pallavicini, erected in the 1783 from F. von Hohenberg, with a door with cariatids (1786) by F.A. Zauner; nera it there is the Palais Palffy (1575) in which the rinascimental facade has been restored after the serious damages endured in the second world war: it was exhibited the prodigious child Mozart who make here the first private execution of the "Wedding of Figaro".

  • Church of the Agostinians, incorporated in the annexed convent to the Hofburg; it is approached to you from Josefsplatz for a door on the left of the Augustinerlrakt. The church, ancient parish of the Court, where often was celebrated the wedding of the members of the House of Asburgo, is a gothic construction (sec. XIV), restored and altered to the end of the ' 700, with neogotic tower of 1852. The inner perusal to three navats with high and thin pillars, with deep chorus; the neoghotic altar work of T.Halbig (1857-70) and a neoghotic tribune with baroque extension of organ.

  • To the beginning of the skillful navat, there is the pyramidal neoclassic tomb of the archduchess Christina Marie work of Canova (1805); to flank in the navata one, two burlaps of J.M.Rottmayr (Vision of S. Maddalen, 1707) and of M. Unterberger (Jesus between the doctors of the temple, sec. XVIII); in the left of navata one, one burlap (the education of Maria, sec. XVII) of J.Spillenberg. From the skillful navata one it is passed in the Georgskapelle, ghotic nail head of 1341 to two navate absidate, with cenotafio of Emperor Leopold work of F.A. Zauner (1799). From the beginning of the skillful right navata one it is approached the Loretokapelle, nail head of 1627 behind whose altar is the Hengruft der Habsburger, "cript of the hearts" of 1634, where the hearts of the members of imperial house (1637-1878 are guarded in silver urns), the emains of which came instead inumate in the Kaisergruft of the Church of the Cappuccins.

  • From the courtyard In der Burg, an underpass in Leopoldinischer Trakt leads to the Heldenplatz (public square of heroes), immense external courtyard of the Hofburg, a time used for military parades, today in part garden, part parking. Sluice on the bottom from the Burgtor, than separates it from Ringstrasse, the public square is delimited on the opposite side from the long baroque facade of the Leopoldinischer Trakt, only marked from the balcony of the noble plan; on the left there are, at first, the facades of the Zeremoniensaal, realized in 1802-1806 on plan of L.de Montoyer for being used like it knows it of the throne, and of the Festsaal, colossal room of festivities (m2 1000) obtained in the connection with the Neue Burg from Baumann in 1911 (today both part of the center conferences). Always on the left, but more rear, there is the concave facade of the Neue Burgs faced from the equestrian statue by bronze of prince Eugene of Savoie work of T.Fernkorn (1859-65). The immense garden of the Volksgarten closes on the fourth side the Heldenplatz.
