What you maybe don't know about Paris, is that it's the city that contains the largest number of theaters in the world... Consequently, you just can't come by there without going to a movie !!! Among my favourite places, "Le Grand Rex" (Metro Poissonniere) and "Grand Action" (Metro Monge)...

You won't believe how strong Paris hangs on to its reputation of "city of lights". Even in the universities, probably to avoid intellectual blindness, the designers have remarkably enlightened the corridors where scores of students are waiting for their class time and where, finally, they find some time to read at least one of the books cited in the numerous bibliographies given by professors at the beginning of the year...

This is the place where I am presently studying criminology... It faces the Pantheon monument. This place gathers the students of two of the main law schools (universities, in France) in Paris, called Paris 1 (Pantheon-Sorbonne) and Paris 2 (Pantheon Assas).

Sometimes, Paris looks similar to any city in the world... Indeed, it has also been victim of the famous "crazy-tagger", a serial inker-penciler who can't help filling the blanks on the walls.... The last "crime scene" is situated Place Pigalle...

In Paris, one of the most visited cities in the world (if not the most visited), we always think about Mister Tourist and the little misgivings he may have, when losing himself in an area he's not supposed to stroll around in (as Mister Tourist never goes off the beaten path, he's way too much in a hurry, and he loves to spend hours in a queue to go up the Eiffel Tower...). So, the city of Paris has decided to poster huge maps in the middle of the unknown areas... What is up to Mister Tourist is just to find out where these maps are located !!!

This Sunday, I was wandering around in the 13th district of Paris. What you probably don't know about this district, and that I didn't know by the time I came here either, is that this is a district of contrast : you may find there some splendid and cosy little places, such as the ones in the area of La Butte aux Cailles, as well as some HLM (moderated-rent building), meaning big blocks of concrete deprived of personnality... Totally deprived ? Not exactly, since some people have thought it over and have decided to put statues, even modern ones, in the middle of the empty squares separating the buildings. I bumped into this one, pretty odd in such a place... When I say that the 13th district is a place of contrast, it's quite right !!!

In Paris, tags and murals often participate to the folklore... (especially to walls folklore, of course !)... I'm not sure that people take much time to notice them, but there are hundreds and hundreds, from the smallest ones you may appreciate in my travelogues, to the hugest ones drawn on the side of 5-stories high buildings... The caption emphatizes : "Are the walls made for advertisement ?"
