A still square next to the Palais de Justice. It is surrounded by loads of buildings whose even front can be seen from the other bank of the river, La Seine... Metro St Michel is the closest.

Plenty of french movies (and I guess foreign movies too) are related to the past. I don't know why, probably because people deeply love their historical background !!! Anyway, if it has to happen at a moment situated between the 17th century and the beginning of the 20th century, the director of the movie will probably "invade" the "rue Beaujolais", whose architecture, pavement and houses around have no specific age.... This street is not far away from the Metro Palais Royal (just cross the gardens of the Palais Royal).

This place is really modern, from its architecture to its situation. Close to the old Palais Royal and its heavy historical background, it was pretty pretentious to build such a modern fountain... But, in the end, it's a pretty good melting of two different artistic inspirations...

Apart from the famous Opera Garnier and Opera Bastille, and not as much easy to find, Paris also has his "Opera Comique", whose front's worth a view...

The gardens of the Palais Royal exist for centuries and a lot of important historical events began or took place there... Now, it's just a nice place to relax during summer, play "petanque" or have some minutes outside, facing the sun, when you're a buzy businessman working in the neighbourhood with just a few time to lunch....

Every now and then, in the gardens of the Royal Palace (close to the Louvre and the "avenue de l'Opera"), some strange sculptures are on display all along the alleys...

Quite an unknown place, even for people who love the district, the Clock neighbourhood is entirely built around a clockwork masterpiece of art called the "Time Defender". On the dot of each hour, the defender fights against one of his foes : a dragon, a rooster and a crab... It has to be seen !!! You'll find the place close to Beaubourg (on its left side, when watching the big square)...

For those of you who have been to the Musee Carnavalet, this is no useful "off the beaten path" tip. For the others, you have probably heard of the "Place de La Bastille" in Paris. What you maybe don't know is that the storming of the Bastille is considered, in France, as the "peak" or the most symbolic event of the French Revolution (it happened on the 14th of July 1789). But, right now, if you go on the "Place de La Bastille", you will only see a huge column on the middle of a rounadabout. So, what was the Bastille ? Actually, it was a prison. When it was invaded by people looking for weapons in 1789, there was not many prisoners inside. But, the place was already a symbol of the power of the King, or one of its darkest expressions, as he could issue a "lettre de cachet" what meant that he could arbitrary send anyone to prison, without giving any reason for that. The storming was consequently the clearest act of rebellion against the King. The prison itself was destructed many years after the revolution. The symbol has stayed alive...

Former bull-rings exist in Paris, so that you may contemplate its architecture. Now, they just constitute a classic part of a park... To be found "rue des Arenes"...

Surprise d'apprendre l'existence de l'eglise russe Al Nevski, car la plus grande cathedrale dans ma ville natale porte le meme nom.
