St. Anthony's Falls/Mississippi River - Minneapolis

Nicknamed the "City of Lakes", Minneapolis is the largest city in Minnesota. Its name translates to water city and comes from the Dakota word for water (mni) and the Greek word for city (polis).

The Mississippi River flows through the city and it adjoins Minnesota's state capital, St. Paul. The two cities are known as the "Twin Cities".

Minneapolis was once the world's flour milling capital and mills can still be seen in the city.

Minneapolis is connected to the airport and the Mall of America (in Bloomington) by Light-Rail transit. It's a very pleasant city to walk around - and with its museums, theaters, parks, and sports teams, there's plenty to do.

In the past it has been named: one of America's smartest cities, one of America's best cities, second most fun city in the U.S., America's safest city, and one of the coolest North American cities.
