Restaurant Name: Wong Kei
Wong Kei is a London institution. I go every time I'm in London, every day if I can!
The legendary rude waiters are pretty much a thing of the past now - they even send their reputation up on their T shirts! (Ask a regular re the significance of "Upstairs!!") We were treated with friendliness and keen attention on both our recent visits. The food is really superb - the barbecued pork and crispy pork on hot rice is sublime, as are most dishes on the extensive menu. If you don't mind formica tables, plastic crockery etc this is the place to eat in Chinatown, judging by the large proportion of Chinese diners every day. Two soups, two mains (very generous portions, and beautifully fresh meats, seafood and vegetables) and the total came to just over 10.00 GBP!! (Jasmin tea is free of charge)
Trust me: you will be glad you did.
Favorite Dish: BBQ Pork & Crispy Pork on hot Rice - a meaty, crispy, tasty treat.
or
Mixed Seafood with Noodles - big prawns, tender squid, tasty fishballs, fresh bok choi - heaven!!
