Aqua Alta

Aqua Alta, the high water.
I was in Venice and witnessed Aqua Alta first hand. The Venetians maintain a good attitude about this increasing problem while they plan and work toward a better solution for the future.
Aqua Alta

Solutions

Posted in front of Doges Palace is a billboard informing people about the flooding.

You can't get there from here...again

There is a great deal of labor required to put up these elevated walkways during Aqua Alta. Often the water comes in so fast they don't have time to finish the job. The bright yellow you see in the photo are the disposable "boots" made available during floods. You can buy wellies for a bit more. I highly recommend them over the leaky disposable waders.

I love your attitude...so positive, so upbeat. I appreciate that. It's beautiful regardless. Enjoyed all your tips. It IS all in the details in Venice.
