What a thrill! Take it all in from street level at your own pace... stop in a casino and jam a few coins in a machine... make strangers into friends along the way... take a break at a sidewalk cafe or lounge... and do it all while carrying around your beer! You never know what to expect when you walk the Strip (except for those porn adverts).

A highlight of any visit to Las Vegas would be watching the dancing fountains at the Bellagio. Absolutely marvelous. The shows are in the afternoons and evenings (check website for times and frequency), and each is put to a different tune ranging from "All that Jazz" to "Con te Partiro". And it's FREE!

Whereas the casinos of yesteryear on the Strip are being demolished for future construction, the casinos downtown are embraced for their antiquated appeal. The majority of them line Fremont Street which has been heavily renovated to bring the almighty tourist dollar back downtown. Every hour in the evenings (check website for exact times), a digital display of color and sound splashes above the heads of strolling pedestrians on Fremont Street, and it's a sight not to miss!

Actually, I think since Treasure Island has changed its logo to "TI", they've also changed their pirate show to "The Sirens of TI". I've not seen this one, but being a free show right on Las Vegas Blvd I'd imagine that it must be family friendly too. Shows run from late afternoon to evening every hour and a half. (Check the website for actual times)

The Strip is the place to be in Las Vegas on New Year's Eve. They call it "The Times Square of the West", and when you're there, you'd believe it to be so. The major hotels all have fireworks displays that shoot off at midnight, but for me, it is more fun just to be a part of that crowd with a beer in hand.
