This is just a general tip to visit Clarke Quay for dinner. There are heaps of great restaurants to try here.

Check out their menu at the entrance before making a reservation which is recommended as Clarke Quay is a popular spot with locals and tourists alike.

After dinner take a bumboat ride on the river or try the reverse bungy if you have the intestinal fortitude for it.

Restaurant Name: Clarke Quay

A fantastic location right near the river with great views of Clarke Quay if you choose to dine alfresco.

But if the heat and humidity is too much and you prefer the airconditioning you can also dine indoors.

On the menu are tasty Indonesian combination sets which include chicken and fish dishes.

Favorite Dish: Charcoal BBQ Combination (not spicy) - there's something for everyone with this set.

Something for everyone

Restaurant Name: Jumbo Seafood Gallery

The food here is just great and there is something on the menu for everyone. Dishes include Chilli Crab, Sri Lankan Crab, Fried Prawns with Cereal, Deep Fried Fish and Crispy Baby Squids.

But do make a booking here because the Jumbo Seafood Gallery is a very popular restaurant with locals and visitors alike.

Favorite Dish: The Chilli Crab is simply delicious if not messy. Don't wear whites!

Dim sum delights

Restaurant Name: Tea House

The dim sum is served in the traditional style by waiters pushing carts around to each table.

They will tell you what is inside each dumpling and bun and what each meat treat is if you ask them.

You can choose from over 40 varieties of mouthwatering dishes.

A word of caution however, not all the waiters speak fluent English so unless you have someone to translate for you (as I did) it pays to be polite and patient.

Banquet has a variety of local and western dishes. This fish soup dish comes with chilli dipping sauce.

Do not make your meal a tom yum by tipping the dipping sauce into the soup. You may add the rice to the soup however.

If in doubt, observe the locals!

Restaurant Name: Tiong Bahru Market & Food Centre

There are a number of food stalls at the Tiong Bahru Market & Food Centre so jump on the MRT and head down there to mix in with the local crowd.

Just follow them to the busiest stalls and you will find the best ones.

I can't remember the stall number but I had some absolutely delicious Hainanese Chicken boiled until tender and served with a groovy gravy.

I also sampled a small piece of lovely Roasted Pig from someone else's plate so check that out as well.

I'd go back there any day.

Put a Tiger in your tank with a

tasty tandoori

Restaurant Name: Simply Indian

Spicy dishes from the Indian sub-continent Fresh naan with dahl, briyani, tandoori... all served on banana leaf fresh and hot... and deliciously spicy.

This restaurant was located next to the Central Square Apartments where I stayed so it was very handy just to drop by for a very tasty snack.

There are a number of food stalls between Pagoda and Temple Streets that come to life each evening.

Here you can tempt your taste buds with seafoods, fried rice, noodles and even fish and chips.
