Pearl of the South

Patong beach
Phuket (pronounced Poo-get) is known as the 'Pearl of the South' and it is Thailand's most popular and visited island.

There's a lot to spend your money on, from luxury resorts to backpackers and fancy reastaurants to local foodstalls.

There are also plenty of shops, malls and markets galore and tours to cater for every taste and budget.

Beautiful photos and interesting tips too on this 'blast from your past'!! Based on what I see here, I can understand why it is over-run by tourists! The sailors in the bar reminded me of a similar incident I experienced in Port Moresby!

I love your photos of the coastal scenery and enjoyed reading about takraw. But I wonder if your General Tip should be under Warnings? It certainly sounds dangerous enough ;-))

"Bali belly" - I like this expression. I've never heard it but can imagine what it means.I'm glad to read that it didn't prevent you from enjoying your stay.
