Larressingle is one of the most beautiful fortified villages in France. It is a most charming medieval village surrounded by vineyards and fields of corn and sunflowers. The bastide had to fend off aspiring conquerors from all sides and, so, it was designed to enable the inhabitants themselves to ensure its defense. It is also the only example of such a defense system to remain intact today!

BEYOND THE WALLS
______________
Once inside the walls of the bastide of Larressingle, there are no streets as such, only flower-lined pathways that lead you from church to inn to tower. I was absolutely captivated by the cozy charm of this place and could see myself living there as one of the inhabitants quite contentedly!
A Gem of a VILLAGE
________________
Just wandering around this village was such an inspiration! Everywhere I looked I saw something beautiful and in the simplest of places...a stained glass window; a flower-box of vibrantly colored blossoms spilling from its container; an old wooden-planked door that had been worn down from welcoming generations of visitors; and the reds and ochres of the old stone houses, weathered and crumbling, but still sheltering it's inhabitants within their ancient walls.

This certainly looks like an intriguing medieval town. I’m glad the restaurant has an item on its menu called “la poule au pot Henri IV” – I’m sure he would appreciate that.
Lovely to see these little places, if it wasn't for v.t ers then we wouldn't even know they exist
My wife wants to say 'Thanks' for giving The Grange such a good rating (now called Le Figuier!). We came across your review when updating our own Larressingle page. A very pleasant surprise. Nice tips of the chateau as well... - Mark
