My best friend and i are 16 and since the summer going into 9th grade we;ve planned a trip to Europe together. We were actually planning to go through out Europe starting with out favorite place *Sweden* and ending in Greece. ...BUT...that never happened. We went to Paris with her mom instead. But convincing my dad who doesnt appreciate my love for traveling since he lived all over the world already as a kid didnt want me to go. If it wasnt for his girlfriend who told him to grow up, did i actually make my way to Paris. After all, there's more to this world then The Big Apple. |
| | Frolicing about... J'DORE PARIS!!! My favorite part was being by myself traveling in the international airports. It made me feel so independent and free. I spent 8 hrs waiting for my best friends plane to land in CDH because we had seperate flights but it was still a great expericece all in itself. (I booked my ticket to Paris a week before we went!)
I suggest u take Le Autobus, its a boat on the seine and a great way to hit all the major tourist sports. None the less its a beautiful trip just going up and down. NIGHT TIME! WOW its so beautiful!!!!!! Night was the exact image i imagined Paris to be! Because i was so excited to actually LEAVE the states and be in another place that i so long dreamed of going took a while to sink in but it left a good impression.
A great place where u MUST go is a street called Descartes in the Latin Quarter. I found it by exploring and a lot of locals gather there for the many great ethnic restaurants, adorable buildings, and this great fountain in the middle.
But what blew my mind was the Effiel Tower. You never understand truly what a great marvel it is until your looking at it in person. When i was there on the first day a crazy guy decided to go repelling off the top of it, and this one woman in french said, "that stupid American" and i couldnt help but laugh. No wonder the french disregard America so much... we're constantly disrespecting their greatness!
ALSOOOOOOO for me, the coolest part was walking to the big mound of metel i saw the name of the road was called King Gustav the 5 of Sweden!!!! Of course all that was in French but i still understood Gustav and Sweden!! I noticed the French seemed to mention Sweden a lot.....that just shows really how classy those French are lol. |
Saying Goodbye... Its always sad when u leave somewhere your enjoying. Although my friends mom was complaining and verbally abusive to her daughter and i, i refused to have her ruin my trip. Ive been eating Crepes my whole life since i was a child and i will greatly miss my chocolate and bananna crepes every morning and the small sidewalk cafes. In New York, you can find everything but nothing can ever compare to the feeling you get when you walk down the streets and giggle while u think, "Wow...Im finally in Paris." | | | Cody and this strange guy... |

| Pros: | "Remembering all my French lessons and putting them to use, also if u just smile a lot and are friendly the people are the greatest. They are nothing like how people describe them in that typical french arrogent sterotype." | | Cons: | "My friends mom, and the fact that i didnt know more french or that im 16 and cant enjoy the night life." | | In A Nutshell: | "Paris is everything its cracked up to be!" |

barryg23 Sat Dec 16, 2006 11:05 UTC Paris was my first trip as well without family and I like you how describe feeling independent and free. Think I felt the same way at the time. Rue Descartes is a lovely spot, I think it's very near Mouffetard, one of my favourite Prias areas. | Goldenboy Wed Apr 26, 2006 19:39 UTC nice story ;) | travelnurse21 Tue Apr 4, 2006 08:36 UTC I loved reading your thoughts on Paris.
