Walking arround: Early Morning in Hanoi
  • Tip Rating:
  • Vietnamese people start their day pretty early. I know it might ruin the feeling of being on vacation if I say you should try to wake up around 5.30am to see a different side of Hanoi. The streets are turned to be a fresh market. People come out and buy stuff to prepare their breakfast or meals for the day. I think it's nice.

Water puppet show: Water Puppet Show
  • Tip Rating:
  • Its not a must to see this show. Its more like a should. Why so? Cos, first, you're visiting Hanoi and this show has been going on for ages. Second, its cheap.

The show is juxtaposed of over 10 short stories. Its quite interesting for the first 15 mins. Then, the interest is dying bit by bit... Well, someone sitting in front of me, she just fell asleep. Yeah just like that! The show lasts for almost an hour.

Oh when you pay for the ticket, you will get a fan. Do not lose it! You will need to use it fanning yourself along the show. It gets a little hot in there.

The Museum of Ethnology: Museum of Ethnology
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • This museum exhibits the traditional cultures of Vietnam's 54 ethnic groups. It preserves the unique cultural identities of every ethnic group which is considered a priority in a country that is experiencing rapid social and economic change on all fronts.

Each section is organized neatly using varied presentational techniques (maps, photographs, showcases with objects, videos and reconstructions)

This seems to be most interesting museum in Hanoi.

Pictured here is a Vietnamese style of grave in the old days.

  • The Temple of Literature (Van Mieu) is a famous ancient monument consisting of the Temple of Literature and Vietnam's first university. The Temple of Literature was built in 1070 in honour of Confucius.

The place looks quite nice inside. It is open Tuesday to Sunday from 8-11.30am and 1.30 -5pm.

Although the show at the Water Puppet Theatre was not as interesting as you might hope, I thought the music was great. You have a very good set of tips here Thanks
