Q Bar & The Bed Club: Quality Cocktails,Great Music and Hip Decors

Nightlife Spot: Q Bar & The Bed Club
If you look for a quality of cocktails and music, then go straight to these 2 sophisticated clubs. They offer such a variety of cocktails. The price is about 250 BHT/ drink. It's a bit higher than a few other clubs but it is reasonable for its quality. Music there is different for each night. I usually have a good time whenever I go to either one. It's packed every night. If you go before 10 pm, you don't need to pay the cover charge. But you won't see many people till after 11.30pm. The cover charge for Q bar is 600 BHT and Bed is 650 BHT. It is very pricy, anyway, you get 2 tickets to exchange for 2 drinks (may have to pay a bit more, depends on what you order.) The majority of people who go there is expats. There are always some Thais though. One bad thing for these places, which is like a few other places of the same kind, is that there are a few "working girls" around. Gotta watch out for yourself. Eventhough Q bar and The Bed Club share quite a few similarities, their decors are what separates them. Bed is bigger and more hip in my opinion. But I feel that Q bar is more cozy. Be the judge for yourself.

Nightlife Spot: Silk Bar
It's nice to sit outdoors and watch people walking while having a sip of your beer or eating. Or if it's a bit too hot, sitting inside enjoying the dj's music is also nice. But you may have to shout, instead of talking normally with your friends. The music is quite loud. Silk bar fried rice is my fav dish there.

Nightlife Spot: Bombay Bar
If you want to check out a club where the locals like to go at the moment, have a look at Bombay Bar. This place is one of the top clubs for Thais at the moment. There are 2 floors. Eventhough it's quite big, It's usually full of people - univ students or lets say people in their 20's. Drinks are nothing special. The price is average. For music, a dj will play (boring) mainstream music till a certain time then a rock band will take over. The band mostly plays Thai songs. Its not my fav place but it seems to be a fav spot for many.

Nightlife Spot: Speed
Most hip hop lovers go to Speed cos the music is more hip and it will make you hop more :p A few other clubs that play hip hop music, they usually have the same list of songs and play them over and over. Let's say the dj's at Speed have a longer list of music and they try to add some flavor to it. It's usually empty on the weekday nights but it's just packed with no air to breathe or space to move on Fri's and Sat's! It's a lot of fun. The cocktails there are, well, not strong but it will get you thru the night. The price is average for the area. People who go there, quite a few are regulars. It's a mixture of the locals, tourists, expats and many students also. One thing, one bad thing, the place is kind of dirty. But when it's dark and you're having fun.. you wouldn't notice it.

Nightlife Spot: Home
Home is another hip hop place that you can check out. It is a fav spot to many during Fris and Sats. This place is kinda small but fortunately, there are 3 floors. For the first time visit or once-in-awhile visitors, this place is fine for you. But if you go there too often, you can get bored of their music. They seem to have limited list of songs. Cocktails are nothing special but nothing sucky either. Price is about average for the area. People are at their 20's. Comfy seats downstairs. Tables outdoors are da good spot to check out cuties outside.

Nightlife Spot: Tapas
I would recommend Tapas for those who like house, drum n bass, or those tunes of the same category. The resident dj's here play pretty good music. There are 3 floors: 1st, 2nd and the rooftop. The rooftop is more likely for special private events. Usually, people like to sit outside. In my opinion, the outdoor area of Tapas looks best in that street (Silom soi 4). A good day to go there is on Fris and Sats. On weekdays, you might find the place rather empty though there are always people taking a seat chilling outside. Their customers are around 20's-30's.

Nightlife Spot: The Balcony
The Balcony is a nice bar to chill out sepcially for gay folks. Sitting outdoors checking out people... It's located in Silom soi 4 which is next to Silom soi 2 AKA "the Gay Soi". So don't be surprised if you spot loads of gays around. This place also offers good drinks with a reasonable price. Friendly gay staff. Nice service. There are always people at this place -- locals, tourists and expats. It's fine for women and straight guys to sit and drink here as well. I sometimes go there with my gay friend. PS For the locals, if you are a univ student, show the student card and you get 10% discount! Unfortunately, I dont have that priviledge anymore.

Nightlife Spot: Expresso
Another tip dedicated for the Gays out there. This place is a must for you gay people cos it is FULL of nice looking ones! Im not sure about weekdays but its really packed on Fris and Sats. There is also a dragqueen show: 2 groups try to compete in dancing. Its fun to watch. Another good thing is that there is NO cover charge.

The past months I've been out, I noticed that the clubs weren't closing at 1am anymore...It got later like 2am. So that's lucky for party animals out there the hour is extended for 1 more hour! Anyway, people usually go out around 11.30 pm onwards.

DKBK Mon Apr 28, 2008 12:39 UTC Good suggestion. But, for tourists stupid enough to hang out in Nana and Patpong, they deserve to pay way more for a taxi. | manuelEB Tue Jun 26, 2007 12:49 UTC Maybe at the end of the day, Budhism is not a religion but a philosophical path... In that case, no problems visiting religious places, including monotheistic stuff.
