Loy Krathong Festival: Loi Krathong Festival
  • Tip Rating:
  • Loi Krathong is a way of saying thank you and apologize for what we've done to the river - it's all in honor of the mother of water, Mae Khongka, in attonement for a year of water pollution.

Its the first full moon of November that we celebrate Loi Krathong Festival.

Some locals will make their own "krathong", but you can buy one from one of the vendors. Fill your krathong with a candle, flowers, incense, and a coin. Sometimes, locals add a snip of their hair or fingernails to the krathong (so that a part of their bodies goes out to the goddess).

    Chinatown: Chinatown
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • You can't really miss Chinatown when you stroll in Bangkok. This place gets busy ALL day. But that's a charm of it. What it's famous for, one is the food, of course! Dim sum - very yum! Many people go there to buy cheap souvenirs or those Chinese herbals. And if you're in the mood of gold bracelets or necklaces shopping, just check them out here. Both sides of the street are pretty much packed of the gold shops.

Anyway, good time to eat at Chinatown is when the sun comes down. Go there around 8pm.

    Things To Do: Halloween Party
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • As Bangkok is a city of FUN, you can bet that we won't miss the Halloween. This year my friends were throwing a sort of private party at a pub & restuarant. Many clubs at RCA, Silom and Sukhumvit are usually celebrating this day. The infamous spot to party, I'd suggest you go to Khao San Road. There will be people in crazy costumes all over, parties and activities going on.

    Comments for Arjaree about Bangkok

Good suggestion. But, for tourists stupid enough to hang out in Nana and Patpong, they deserve to pay way more for a taxi.

Maybe at the end of the day, Budhism is not a religion but a philosophical path... In that case, no problems visiting religious places, including monotheistic stuff. GReat page here!
