Campanile and Doges Palace

Venice - A City of Delights

This is a picture taken when I visited early Nov 06. I had a simply perfect time, wandering, shopping, dining, and island hopping. I went for 5 nights and each day was beautiful blue sky and sunshine. My first trip to Venice was about 28 years ago and I have been each year for the past 8 including a day trip for my 50th birthday on 7/7 with 6 buddies which was amazing!

I hope that you like my photos and descriptions of the various places I have visited and if you have any questions at all I shall be pleased to help where I can.
Wooden Sculptures

Venice - Shop 'til you Drop

Around every corner, there are beautiful shops, whether looking for local wares, wonderful cheese and ham, lovely jewellery, gorgeous leather goods, writing materials, not forgetting the amazing pasticcerie, etc. Window dressing is something the Italians are expert at and will amaze you. I took a photo of this incredible wooden sculpture display on my last trip.
Torcello

Venice - Sightseeing

It always amazes me when people ask if they can "do" Venice in a day. I would like to stay there for a year ... and I still would not see all there is to see! One of my favourite trips is to Torcello. It is so quiet and peaceful -most of the time! My favourite place to stay in Venice is in Dorsoduro - away from the crowds of St Marks.

Pros:"So many - too numerous to mention, though the highlights are the wonderful architecture, being near the water at every turn, some wonderful dining experiences,eg La Calcina on the Zattere, the sheer magic and uniqueness of Venice"
