That will be the first thing that strikes you most when visiting Amsterdam: no wonder windmills were invented here... Wind is really the most characteristic feature of this unique town, and it has one unique feature: no wonder what direction you are going to, it will be always against you! Amsterdam is a really wonderful city, and without wind (and some more sun!), it would be a good instance of paradise. But, there's no paradise on earth...
The second big feature of Amsterdam is its canals. It's a cute city, and the canals shape it in a very nice way: no wonder its nickname is "Venice of the North". Canals are all around, making it really enjoyable to walk around (and a bit less enjoyable to bike around, with all those bridges! ;)
What? Been to Amsterdam and never taken a boat ride around the city? Shame on you...
People, beers, music, lights, tourists, locals, mix of races, a lot is shacking up in Amsterdam, big container where the cold weather of the North needs to be warmed up, where people find some colors and light in a land that by itself offers little sun and a meager summer. It's the people in action, to change their lifes. And not just the people, the other inhabitants as well: the birds. Like Venice has the pigeons, Amsterdam has its northern counterpart: the ducks, everywhere!

- In a nutshell:If you are in North Europe, that's the best you can get.
