Pleven is situated close to the Touchenitsa river which is a right tribute to the Vit river. The today's town occurred close to an old Thracian Roman village, called Storgozia which was built in the Kailaka area. Pleven has a rich histhory. It became widely known during the Liberation war (1878). Interesting to the visitors of the town are the Kailak fortress, the tumulus in the Skobelev park, the Pleven Epopee Panoramic Exhibition, the old bridge on the Vit river, manu monuments.
