Bodega Moreno Palamos
This is only a general tipp about restaurants in Palamós.
In my hometown there are really a lot of restaurants about many different themes. It all depends on how much do you want to spend.
For those of you who want to eat (at least once) very good, please, don't miss Restaurant "La Gamba". This excellent and since many, many years family-from-town run Restaurant is simply unmissable. Its speciality is fish and seafood and all is prepared right from the harbour (just in front of it). Price is accordingly, thus...
A still very hidden tipp among us is "Bodega Moreno". It is located (I could say "hidden") just at the parallel street to the City house. They don't have, at all, a menu/dishes List, as the ONLY offer what the fishers got today at their work. (Restaurant's owner is fisher himself!!) That's the reason why they don't open on sundays and mondays and never before 18:30 Hrs. Price is above average but worth it, at any case!!!
Address: "Pagès Ortiz" - Street right behind City Hall
Comparison: more expensive than average
Directions: At "Pages Ortiz" - Street between the streets
"Mauri Vilar" and "Allada" (For "Bodega Moreno")
just oposite the "Fishing Museum" for "La Gamba"
This suggestion are specially for those of you who cannot afford (not even once!!) the above tipps:
If you want to eat with us, "aborigenes", without spending much money and, however, tasty, head to "El Pi": There you get the "Bred with crushed tomatoes" as I explained above.
Next to it, you find "El Racó" which is a pizzeria. But don't make the mistake to look for italians working there: The owner is from Palamós and so the workers. The pizzas, however, are made with "the catalan touch" (f.e. blue cheese with walnuts).
Both are just in front of fishing museum and the old harbour.
Your third choice could ve "La LLesqueta", which is hard to find, next to the Church, at one sidestreet. Bur please make sure ypou don't mix it up with others restaurants, as around the church there are many of them!!
Ah! In summer expect very long queues to get in if you try to eat between 20:00 and 23:30 hr. No reservations possible.
Address: Just in front of fishing museum and old harbour
Comparison: about average
Ingredients to "Pa amb tomàquet" Palamós
This is a recipe-suggestion.
Whoever it was in Catalunya has seen this speciality. And it is sooooo tasty, that now you can find it elsewhere in Spain :o)))
In Catalunya is very common to eat a bred slice with either cheese, meet or sausages. (for breakfast or dinner) But not only so: We have our own way to prepare it, and it is soooo tasty, that now you can find it all around Spain, as well: You need some "tomàquets per a sucar" (--> "tomatoes to be crushed", which are very little and very weak tomatoes), one clove garlic peeled off and a big slice of bred (white, of course!!) ;o))) First you rub the garlic on the bred until you've only got a half of it. Dann cut the tomatoes into 2 and crush it on the bred. And at last you strew salt and a little olive oil. Upon this you put the sausage, cheese or meat you want. Or... you just go to "El Pi" ;o))
PS. Bred is usually a little toasted!
