Thomasville might have been just another small town in south Georgia had it not developed its historic downtown into a antique center and tourist stop. The town boasts some of the best antique warehouses, auctions, and stores in the southern Georgia/northern Florida region. Combine this with the annual rose festival, restored historic residential sectors, and old historic downtown and you have a popular location for day trips mostly from nearby Tallahassee. |
Antiques Throughout Thomasville, one can easily find numerous (and sometimes pricey) antique shops. There are so many different historic antique malls, shops, and auctions that its hard to know where to start. Some of the older ones that I use to frequent have either moved or increased their prices, but if one starts by walking down historic downtown, it is easy to find more than enough shops.
There are also large antique festivals throughout the year and numerous auctions. |
| | Rose Festival Perhaps Thomasville's largest event of the year is the rose festival which is usually held on the fourth weekend of April. It attracts tons of spectators and showcases over 7000 roses each year. Here is the link from 2004 http://www.downtownthomasville.com/RoseFest.html |
