Asia 02-03 Europe 03-04

by bthon - last update: Nov 5, 2004

I have been traveling since before I could walk, carried in a baby carrier throughout the smokey mountains and along the east coast of the United States. Growing up, I camped or traveled through almost every state in the USA with the exception of Hawaii and Alaska. Coming from a family so consumed with exploring, camping, and travel it is amazing that I did not travel overseas until a few years ago during my second year of college.

Perhaps feeling behind, I spent one year studying abroad in Suwon, South Korea, and the next living in London, UK, visiting over 20 countries in the process. Now, I am begining the long process of documenting my past travels, while planning future adventures.

Suwon, South Korea

I started off my travels by moving to Suwon, South Korea for a year of study abroad starting in August 2002. Suwon is only 45 minutes or so from Seoul which allowed for numerous trips into the capital city. I also had nearly three months of winter break between semesters which I used to travel to places such as Beijing, Thailand, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Tokyo. Trips inside S. Korea consisted of Cheju Island, DMZ, Busan, and undeveloped regions.

London, UK 2003-2004

In september of 2003, I started a year of study in London at Queen Mary, University of London. Though I was on the eastern edge of London, I was only a few minutes by bu from the financial distric and St. Paul's Cathedral. Living in the East Side, also gave me a chance to experience a different London atmosphere, complete with a variety of cultures and ethnicity's.

Europe Continent

While living in London, I was able to extensively travel around Europe. I visited countries such as Germany, Italy, Sweden, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, and Spain. Inside the UK, I traveled to Scotland, Brighton, Bath, and Oxford. Sometime these trips were done alone, other times I traveled with friends, and many times I was visiting friends I had made while studying in South Korea.
