Heaven on Earth!!(Lebanon) I was born and raised in Lebanon, a country on the East Mediterranean Sea. A country that traces its history to over 6000 years ago.LEBANON is a small country only in size with a 225km coastline along the Eastern mediterranean& a double ridge of mountains, running parallel to it,reaching an altitude of over 3,000 meters. The Phoenicians who fournished several millenia before the Christian era, founded what today are Lebanon's main cities:Tripoli,Beirut,Sidon and Tyre. |
The Cedars Simply known as the:"The Cedars," this resort settlement in Lebanons highest range is one of the most dramatically beautiful spots in the country. Its centerpiece is an ancient grove of cedars, a tree synonymous for millennia with Lebanon itself. Just below The Cedars is the town of Bsharre, birthplace of Gibran Khalil Gibran. |
| Grottoes of Jeita-lebanon |
Jeita Caverns A journey to Lebanon is worth while for Grottoes of Jeita alone. Of course, there are plenty of grottoes with stalactites and stalagmites in the world, but it would appear that none of them even approach the astounding wealth or the extent of those of Jeita. Over a distance of 650 meters , at two levels, the lower one in a boat and the upper one on foot, following perfectly made cement gangways, the tourist picks his winding way through darkly forbidding caverns. Sometimes he passes through vast halls the size of a cathedral - some of the grandiose naves seem to contain giant organs or the vast chandeliers of madmen - and sometimes through narrow corridors. |
BEIRUT Lebanon's capital is Beirut most famous for being the Switzerland of the Middle East. A place where East meets West, and where the past meets the present. It has the highest mountains in the Middle East with an altitude of over 3,000 meters (9,000 feet). The winter ski centers on these mountains are only an hour's drive from the warm Mediterranean sea. In the spring you can water ski and snow ski in the same day. |
OUR LADY OF LEBANON at HARISSA Our divine Lady of Harissa, is an angelic white statue looking down a 600-meter high mountain perch. A wondrous journey to Mother Harissa is an adventure experienced aboard the Telepherique (suspended cable car) hundreds of kilometers above the ground. The Telepherique ride is a ride to remember as you swiftly travel across the sky over the city of magic and wonder, indulging on the eagle-eye view of the glorious Jounieh(where I Live) .A breath-taking experience of a breath-taking city!!!!!! |
| Temple of Bacchus,Baalbek,lebanon |
BAALBEK Baalbek (ancient Heliopolis), town, eastern Lebanon, between the Līžānī and Asi rivers. The name, which means "City of Baal," is derived from the early association of the town with the worship of Baal, a local sun deity whom the ancient Greeks identified with their sun god, Helios; the Greeks and Romans called the town Heliopolis, "City of the Sun." Once a splendid city, it is famous now for the imposing ruins of ancient temples. |
| Gibran's MUSEUM,North-lebanon |
Gibran's MUSEUM Located at the bottom of the mountain that overlooks the valley of saints(holly Valley). Gibran's museum was first a monastery. His coffin is placed in it which Gibran chose as his tomb. It was established in 1975. It contains 440 paintings of which 190 are exhibited. To note that Gibran Khalil Gibran, the writer of The Prophet, was not only a poet, but also a philosopher, and an artist. He dealt with abstract issues such as God, Death and Love. Location: Besharre - North Lebanon |
Moussa Palace Musueum The Palace has a special exhibit on Lebanese artwork and artifacts. Mr. Moussa, who built the museum himself, also created scenes from Lebanese peasant and noble life from past centuries. At the end of the tour you can sit in a real authentic old Lebanese setting and sip bitter coffee, the old style. A souvenir shop is available. Location: lebanon- Shoof |
