"Freiburg" Freiburg im Breisgau by Ujamaflip

Freiburg is a City of around 200,000 people, situated on the western edge of the southern Black Forest. The city is supposed to have the best, sunniest weather in Germany, but we visited on a cold (but dry) November weekend.

Thanks to this idyllic weather, and its situation in the beatiful Southern Schwarzwald, Freiburg is a tourist hub. But this is not all, for Freiburg is home to one of the most beautiful Cathedrals in Germany, and a host of other beatiful buildings and charming streets.

Freiburg is home to many beautiful, historic, cobbled streets. On these streets you will find the usual tourist shops, selling antiques, cuckoo clocks, and some interesting curiosities.

Within these streets you will find small gullies carrying fast flowing streams. These are common throughout the city, present on most of the roads, and are thought to have been designed to supply water to the city in historic times.

Legend has it that those who step into the streams will end up marrying a Freiburger!
