Who am I? | Me and Claire at the Grand Palace (hot day) |
My name is David Summers and I recently married Claire who is obviously now Claire Summers but i am finding it hard to remember to call her Mrs Summers. Old habits eh? We went to Thailand on our honeymoon and loved the place so much that i thought i would share some of the experience with you lot. My tips are going to appeal to the first timers to Thailand and those of you that are not your "typical traveller". What i'm trying to say is that there is a whole wave of suit case weilding, package holiday people now going to Koh Samui that were virtually non-existant 10 years ago. We need advice too, as do the backpackers. So here we go. |

| | Where have i been in my life? My travelling experience is not great and i have only been to France, Spain, Holland, Greece (where i worked for 6 months), Turkey, America and Thailand but i have fallen in love with Thailand and will try to give you some sound advice that will appeal to people who want to try Thailand but may be a bit wary for any number of reasons.
Working in Greece really opened my eyes up to different cultures and when people go on a two week package holiday they tend to be a little bit blinkered to their surroundings and end up sitting on a beach for two weeks and eating at the hotel. I have found that if you leave your comfort zone and get out there, you can meet some really cool people and see some amazing things.
However, as i have said before, I only went to Koh Samui and stayed in Chaweng which is very westernised but wait til next year and i'm going off the beaten track and i cant wait. |
What do i do when not on holiday? I'm not sure if this is at all interesting but i am a plasterer when i am back in the UK. I am always critical about the quality of the building work whenever i go to another country and i was the same in Thailand. We saw some builders build a small wall and it took them all day. It was the most wonky wall i have ever seen in my life. I know its hot in Thailand but this was so funny. I am into my German cars (Volkswagen to be precise) and i MC at the Volksworld Show at Sandown racecourse every year. Anyone who is into VW's will have been to the show and heard me talking rubbish all day. Good laugh and loads of beer and stuff!!!!! Lastly, i like my music. I love the HedKandi record label which is all funky/disco house and i also like indie stuff like Snow Patrol, Zutons, White Stripes and S Club 7 (joke).
Thats enough about me. Hope some of my information comes in handy and leave any comments or ask any questions you would like. Happy Travelling. | | | Split Screen Bus - Bo Phut fishermans village |
