Kenner, the home of all those who flee!

The Great and Terrible Hurricane Ivan

The past few days has been a experiment in preparation. As some of you may know the great and terrible Hurricane Ivan finally hit the Gulf Coast last night. Our humble little town battened down the hatches, covered the windows and "hunkered" ( the current word of the meterological world) down preparing for the worst. I took my son and 2 dogs and moved to the safety of my father's house in Baton Rouge. For two days the Weather Channel had us prepared for the second coming. The hurricane was going to come up the Mississippi River and flood Lake Ponchartrain which in turn would tumble over it's banks and levees and fill the streets with water. Mayhem would commence, many would die in their attics, snakes would come out of the toilets and general mayhem would ensue.
Now the real story, woke up this am in Baton Rouge, nary a raindrop had fallen nor a tropical storm force wind had blown. My son, dogs and I headed back to our beloved home to find.............. (ominous music...) a bunch of pine needles down, and and a few broken branches!!! The sky is a glorious blue and not a drop of rain has touched the ground! So ends another near catastrophe in little Kenner. The moral of the story is: Don't take this *** lightly, one day it will be will be the real deal and you could drown in your attic!!!! LOL
